Craps, Marathon & Main Event
Am 4. Juli sollte eigentlich ein großes Feuerwerk über den kompletten Strip erstrahlen…Dementsprechend machten wir uns auf zum MGM Grand um von da aus den Las Vegas Boulevard entlang zu laufen. Das im Supermarkt gekaufte Bier tranken wir stilecht aus braunen Papiertüten, während wir Feet um Feet hinter uns ließen…Doch das Feuerwerk sollte auf sich warten lassen. So ging es in Venetian, wo die Zocker den Craps-Tisch ansteuerten, das neu auserkorene “Can’t Lose”-Game. An diesem Abend lief es für die meisten wirklich gut, doch in den kommenden Tagen sollten auch noch andere Erfahrungen gemacht werden! Als genug Gewinn gemacht war, wurde in klassischer “Hit & Run”-Manier der Tisch verlassen und der Hotel-eigene Club aufgesucht…Das Tao.
An der Tür wurde uns freundlicherweise ein eigener Tisch angeboten für den Preis von zwei Flaschen a $350…Kurz hochgerechnet kamen wir mit Steuern auf ca. $800 für sieben Personen, also sagten wir zu! Der Club war sehr stylisch und es lief durchweg gute Musik (HipHop & House), lediglich unser Platz war etwas lächerlich…Wir bekamen eine Bank in einem Durchgang zugewiesen durch den aber immerhin eine ansprechende Frischfleisch-Rotation gewährleistet war…und in Vegas gibt es viel “Fleisch” zu beschauen! 
Nachdem die zwei Flaschen Belvedere Wodka souverän per Roll The Dice & Ex geleert waren ging es nach ausgiebigem Abhotten wieder ins Casino kurz wieder Würfeln und danach NL $1/$2. Ich konnte zwar mit KK ein All-In einer Spielerin callen, floppte das Set, turnte das Boat und riverte Quads, verließ das Spiel aber leider trotzdem leicht down. Well played, drunken monkey!
Am darauffolgenden Tag (Donnerstag) lief nicht viel, bis darauf dass in der Nacht eine Chinese Poker Session gestartet wurde, die immernoch lief als ich Freitag Mittag wieder aufstand. Die Jungs hatten tatsächlich seit 10 Stunden gespielt und als ich mich dazu gesellte, wurde ich kurzerhand zum Dealer und sorgte dafür, dass die Jungs (Seb, Cort und Niklas) noch einmal richtig Lust bekamen und weitere vier Stunden spielten. Nach 14 Stunden reichte es dann aber sowohl Siegern als auch dem Verlierer, der mit ca. $8000 im Minus stand aber aus Pietätsgründen hier nicht genannt wird! Als ich mich zum Rio aufmachen wollte schaute ich noch kurz in meine Mailbox und erblickte eine neue Absage bzgl. des Medienpasses. Dem Grund nach muss ich aber davon ausgehen, dass die Organisation entweder nicht nachdenkt oder einfach dumm ist. Wie dem auch sei…Dementsprechend demotiviert machte ich mich auf zum Rio, um dort festzustellen, dass eine Berichterstattung vom Event selbst nahezu unmöglich ist ohne eben dieses Media-Badge, da man so nur als Zuschauer gilt, sich mehrere Stunden anstellen muss, um überhaupt in den Turnierraum zu kommen, um sich dann nur in abgetrennten Bereichen bewegen zu dürfen. That sucks big time, Harrahs! Genervt stattete ich der Fashion Show Mall einen Besuch ab und probierte das neue iPhone aus (sweet!) und spielte danach noch ein paar Stunden Cash im Mirage (even!)….
Heute ging es dann mit Hans-Martin Vogel (5. Platz Aussie Millions 07) und Sebastian Ruthenberg mit dem Taxi ins Rio, da beide heute ihren ersten Start-Tag haben sollten. Auf dem Weg dorthin bot mir Seb überraschenderweise an, mich für ein $1000 Mega-Satellite mit 20:80 im Gewinnfall zu staken…Ich hätte natürlich auch ohne Gewinnbeteiligung nicht eine Sekunde gezögert: Was für eine riesige Gelegenheit für einen Low-Roller wie mich! Minuten später kaufte ich mich also ins um 13 Uhr startende Mega-Satellite ein und ging sofort an meinen Platz. Kurz zusammengefasst: Ich spiele nicht schlecht, kriege aber kaum Karten und buste im vierten Level mit QQ gegen AK.
Danach halte ich mich noch ein paar Stunden auf der neu gestarteten WSOP-Messe auf, bei der es tatsächlich einiges an ”Girls, Games and Gear” zu sehen, testen und abzustauben gibt. Highlights waren sicher die Heads-Up-Challenge von Esfandiari & Laak (samt Freundin Jennifer Tilly) am digitalen PokerTek-Tisch, sowie der Stand des Seamless Nightclubs, wo es dralle Bikini-Schönheiten aus dem Topless-Club in einen Wasserkübel zu schicken gilt…Wie das? Für $1 darf man mit vier Tennisplätzen auf eine Zielscheibe werfen und trifft man das Bullseye geht es für die Mädels hinab ins kühle Naß. Doch nicht nur da gab es lange Schlangen…Auch die Autogrammstunden von Stars wie Mike Matusow, Johnny Chan, Phil Helmuth, Barry Greenstein und Vanessa Rousso waren gut besucht und die Pros verbreiteten gute Laune. “The Mouth” beispielsweise schnauzte mich auf seine eigene charmante Art und Weise an, als ich meinte, dass mir der Pro Player Drink für den er Werbung macht nicht wirklich schmecken würde: “Security! Get this guy out of my area…Pro Player is the best drink ever! Face it, sucker!” Sprach’s und ließ seine markante ”Ich-Lache-Am-Liebsten-Über-Meine-Eigenen-Witze”-Stimme durch die Halle schallen…Nice, Mike!
Vanessa Rousso hingegen sprach ich auf ihre Rapkünste an, mit denen sie in einer der “Poker After Dark”-Folgen geprahlt hatte, sie aber in der Sendung nicht unter Beweis stellen wollte…Sie lachte und erklärte, dass sie seit dem Hin- und Wieder darauf angesprochen wird, aber eher für sich alleine rappen würde. Sie demonstrierte mir noch ihre Deutsch-Skills und nach einem Foto ging es für mich auch schon wieder weiter. Seb war in der Zwischenzeit auch gebustet und die Schlange vor dem Turnierraum war ins Unermessliche angewachsen.
Als ich mich schon auf den Heimweg machen wollte, fiel mir auf, dass das Palms nur einige Meter entfernt war und so begab ich mich noch auf den nur 1km langen, dafür dank Wüstenwind umso heißeren Fußweg. Im Casino angekommen fand ich den Pokerraum relativ prompt, doch war verwundert darüber, dass nur $2/$4 und $4/$8 Limit Holdem angeboten wurde…Als ich mich jedoch noch einmal umsah, erblickte ich ein Schild mit der Aufschrift “High Stakes Poker”, welches den NoLimit-Teil des Pokerbereichs darstellte. Das Spiel verlief unspektakulär, da ich carddead war oder nicht hitten konnte. Wieder zuhause erblicke ich schon wieder die alt bekannten Gesichter bei einer Chinese Poker Session und geselle mich dazu, während ich dieses Update schreibe…
Morgen geht es wieder ins Rio auf einen neuen Versuch einen Mediapass zu bekommen. Ich hoffe auch, dass ich euch ein erstes Video-Interview mit einem Hausbewohner liefern kann.
