ist poker ein sport? (vorsicht englisch)
I love playing poker, but I don't consider it a sport. My friend on the other hand, does. What is your view about this?

In my opinion sport has to do something with competition, training, ambition, and a little bit strategie. So i think it is a sport like other discussable kinds of sport as chess or virtual gaming (cs, wc3).
But other people demand a more bigger physically part. I think it is also given. U must be clear in your brain and concentrated to poker. If your are very nervously and your heart beats very much you can train it with conditionaly training, so that you sit calmly at the poker table. You must be fit in mentally and physically regards to play good Poker.
I am sorry for my bad english. :P

It really depends on how you define a sport. Some people define a sport as something that involves some kind of physical ability, Football,Baseball,Basketball, tennis, golf, racing, soccer etc etc. Others also consider some competition that requires mostly just intelect or knowledge of the game as a sport. An example of this could be chess competition or a poker competition. I lean more to anything that competes one opponent against another opponent opr group of opponent as a sport. A professional pool player for example doesn't have to be a good athlete to win at pool...just has to know the game and how to win at the game. You can say the same thing about a lot of "sports". I think it is the competition that makes it a sport...so I would vote YES!

Is Brainsport not a sport, only because u dont moove a leg? Try to learn some complex math-formulas and use them in a Test... I'm sure, after that u'll feel more "destroyed" than having played 1 hour of football...
